It works, it looks fine, its a dressor. If you are in college, living in an apartment in the city, or have absolutely no time on your hands I can see getting one of these... as long as you have about 3 hours to put it together -- and I say that being a craftsman who does everything from blacksmithing/armor smithing, leatherwork, and EVEN some carpentry. Carpentry you say? Why on Earth would you buy this excessivly heavy pain of particle board then? I'm knee deep in projects for clients and don't have the time to put together something for myself and I badly needed to free up space in my closet. So how about the review? If you owned legos as a kid you should have no problem putting this together. I did the entier project with a wretcheting screwdrive (wrench style, not the straight up and down "classic" screwdriver style). You can put most of the pieces in place with a little effort or by putting the pieces of "wood" together and smacking them with your palms. Of course you need to be incredibly careful as this is ALL particle board and thus will crumble and crack and fall to pieces if you so much as look at it wrong. This is why I would reccomend to anyone to just subtract a few hours of [insert streaming service here] time from your week, read an article online about how to DIY, and get too it. Of course Amazon should have no problem with this reccomendation as you will probably buy the tools you need from them anyway.Okay, it's crappy material, but it works well and still looks nice so you are going to buy it. What do you need to know?- Nothing is labled. This isn't a huge problem for MOST of the parts because they are pretty easy to make out with those wonderful peepers of yours. The part where you will get into a bit of trouble is with the little locking screw things. There are two different sizes the look almost exactly the same unless you put them next to eachother and of course they are all mixed up in a bag together with some pegs, nails and screws. Otherwise, look at the pictures and you will figure it out!- Unless you are really careful I don't reccomend using a screw gun to put most of the parts in place. Even though the holes are piloted they are often too small, so if you accidently put something in at an angle or try and screw it too fast you will tear up the particle board (you will probably do this a bit anyway.-The back doesn't have any finish on it so you have to put it up against a wall. Most people do anyway, but if you have a large room you want to divide up by running furnature across the center, this piece isn't going to work for that for this and the following reason.-Weight is not evenly distributed. It's top heavy - which is pretty dangerous if you don't do something about that. Hey American's (PSA) did you know you are statistically more likely to be crushed to death by your own furnature than to be killed by a terrorist (forgien or domestic)? They do give you ties and instructions on how to attach this to the studs in your walls. Since you will want to do that, you should probably also learn how to repair the drywall when you get ready to move... unless you own the place... in which my previous statement about building a lumber dressor stands.- They give you a marker... Since it is particle board the "wood" look "finish" on the outside is some kind of laminate nonsense that could easily scratch if you brush up against it with your lawnmower, practice HEMA in your bedroom, or are dating Edward Scissorhands, so they give you this cute little brown marker to touch up those horrible scratches that will inevitably show up. It's sort of a light mud brown which doesn't really match the finish but I suppose it will make your brain less likely to notice minor scratches than the unclored reflective scratches that might have developed during the shipping process (what this is actually meant for). Though if you recieve a damaged product you should totally just send it back!Final thoughts:- Is it a fine product if you can't/don't have the time to make one? Totally!- Is it quality furnature? Umm, no.Questions for mass manufacturers of these types of products:What is the most stable and highly saught after style of furnature in the world?Jointed wood furnature. How many materials are involved in jointed wood construction?1? Really? Just wood? Why are people not selling jointed furnature kits!!I love this little dresser for my child. Many drawers for many clothes lol. The only downfall to this dresser, was that the inside of the drawers peeled on the tops, the white “paint” if you will. And one of the drawers had holes drilled in the opposite place… however, was an easy fix for my husband, but may be of concern to someone else. I wouldProbably recommend, for the price, it’s pretty good!Okay, so after reading a ton of the reviews I ordered the white chest of drawers. I am not sure why anyone had difficulty putting this together. If you follow the directions and compare what step you are on with the picture in the instructions, it is pretty easy. If you can’t follow the instructions; don’t purchase it. Yes the hardware comes in one bag together, but… if you use what you need with each step.., again… simple. No need to sort everything out, just find them as you go. Each step tells you how many screws, cams, and the size and color of each. The pictures people post about screws poking through or cam holes broken? Well, those people didn’t pay attention to the different sizes of hardware. This dresser is made from particle board. However, it is very solid. If you are looking for solid wood, go to a furniture store or expect to pay 3 to 4 times more. If you can’t follow directions, either find someone who can, or go buy a dresser that is already put together. Why give a bad review over your own stupidity. This dresser did have a barely noticeable chip on the bottom of a drawer, (I covered it with whit nail polish. NO BIGGY) but it is particle board under the finish except for the drawer sides which are wood. As far as dressers go… this one is a good deal. All you have to do is pay attention and follow the instructions. I am 50 and put this together by myself in about 2 1/2 hours without any problems.I purchased two of these drawers about five months ago and left them in the box. I thought I had made a big mistake purchasing them because they needed to be assembled. So, five months later, I got on the floor, opened the box, read the directions and started. I hit a roadblock on one step but I looked at the Prepac installation on YT and from there I had no problem.I wasn’t trying to rush but wanted to do a good job (two days off and on).By following the directions and taking my time, the first one has turned out awesome. It’s sturdy and no loose ends.I will start on the second one tomorrow. What is it with RTA companies that they are so cheap when packing their product for shipping? All five of the drawers arrived damaged-scratched, dented, etc. We built the dresser and asked for new drawers. The only option was to order another dresser, take the drawers out of that and ship back the replacement dresser with the reject drawers. A major pain that could be avoided if it had been packed properly in the first place. We like the design and the size is perfect but in retrospect we would have paid more for a dresser to arrive UNdamaged.I loved the finished product and even though it took me a little over 4 hours(breaks here and there) to assemble by myself, I was still happy that I was able to do it alone. The instructions were pretty straight forward. Mt only disappointment was that some of the pieces came with damages already. Other than that I'm happy. This isn't huge, so it's easy to fit into small spaces and small rooms. It was easy to assemble, it just took a while (by myself). It is VERY HEAVY in the box, but easy to move once put together. The only complaint I have about this, is there are two pieces on the front (side decorative pieces) that aren't very sturdy. I feel as if I grabbed them to pull and move the chest, they would fly off.Love the color. I got the dark brown color. Didn’t take my husband long to put together. Wish the drawers were deeper. Drawers are cheap feeling but it does the job.Probably like you, I can't resist a seemingly good deal. This product had an attractive price and decent reviews, so I bit. I should have paid a little more to obtain a better product locally. The assembly was easy. I've assembled lots of pieces of furniture over the years and everything fit together fine. The problem is that, after assembling the unit, I realized that it was very much of inferior quality. The drawers didn't line up well; they didn't slide well, and they were terribly balanced.Indeed, I'm so disappointed in this transaction that I've taken the unusual step (at least for myself) of writing a review.Adding up the time-cost of assembly and the embarrassingly poor final product, I would have been much better off having gone to a local furniture store and having paid twice as much for a better product in the first place (which is what I eventually had to do anyway).Build took about 4.5-5 hours start to finish done almost entirely as one person. Don't try to build this entirely alone, it's impossible. I like to build these things fully on my own, so to accept help was unusual for me.The entire unit in the box and assembled is VERY very heavy. You do need a good amount of strength to move the pieces around when building. Keep that in mind. The color coded slider pieces make this so so easy to assemble. I wish all drawered furniture like this had this feature. I've built things that had no L and R indicators and it's a nightmare. The color coding on this made it a total breeze, just pretty time consuming. The only major problem I had with it is the screws not aligning well enough with the metal bracket that attaches onto the sides of the drawers - the screws were snagging on the wheels in the frame of the dresser pretty badly for 2 of them. I ended up using my Dremel and rounding the edges of the little screws for these 2 problem screws and that totally fixed it. There's no other way to straighten them to get them to screw down into the bracket far enough. Truuuust me, I tried everything. So if you have this problem too, you'll need to do the same thing somehow either with a file or a Dremel. But otherwise I'm really really happy with it! It looks fantastic, had minimal damage upon opening (almost impossible to avoid this when buying this kind of flat box furniture so I expected the worst). I do recommend it for sure. :) Great price point for the quality and sturdiness.Decided to try this instead of IKEA even though the IKEA equivalent was cheaperShould've gone with IKEAFirstly it arrived late and the box had a bunch of footprints all over it like someone walked on itIt looked ok out of the box but while putting it together found alot of flaws The drawers and a bit shorter than advertised when assembled the back of the unit is not finished as advertised it's just a thin piece of particle board that you need to nail on first set of flat pack furniture I had to use nails on .....it's 90% particleboard with the exception of the drawer sides it arrived late and it had quite a bit of manufacturing defects , one of the drawer sides had a crack that opened up during assembly so one of the drawers the front fascia may pop off at any time I contacted prepac via their website filled out a form as directed and got no responseAmazon customer service was a bit if a run around to get some kind of compensation I had to talk to 3 people the only option they were giving me was to return the item a partially assembled 100lb unit or a small discount I took the latter as I had no other choiceSo I decided to write this review to save someone else the headacheit took us 4.5hrs to assemble this!!! none of the parts were identified (c6,d4...).it's pretty good, and have to make sure every part goes where it should be otherwise you'll have difficulties to close drawers, exemple 1st drawer wouldn't fit in 3rd and 2nd wouldn't fit in 4th etc.one of the drawer had a defect as you can see in the 2nd picture, but that's ok im not mad at it.overall now that the headache's gone, it's a good drawer, have enough espace. i bought it for my baby's clothes and i still have one drawer empty.I bought this for my 9 year olds room. Easy to assemble and nothing in the box came damaged when delivered. It was the only dresser with this depth I could find to fit a smaller space in a small room. The instructions were very easy to follow and the company used very good quality knobs. For what I paid for it and the quality I think it was worth it. I also loved that the drawers are on rollers and glide easily. I will definitely order from this company in the near future.
